FINALLY! A SLIPRING FOR MOVI XL!

FINALLY! A SLIPRING FOR MOVI XL!

The MoVI XL is the most popular large-frame gimbal in the world. It is an excellent system, but it’s not perfect. When Freefly upscaled the design of the MoVI Pro, they carried over aspects that were acceptable for handheld gimbals, but problematic for a real remote head. Specifically- Power and Video I/O. The MoVI XL is a remote head, not a handheld or aerial gimbal for drones. In order to be a professional tool, it needs to have the flexibility to be optimized for each use case.

The M360 is a bolt-on slipring module that allows the MoVI XL to be powered remotely, and also pass 3G-SDI video signals through the pan axis of the gimbal without compromising unlimited 360º pan axis rotation.

Installs easily in minutes.

Louie Northern (Ascend Aerials) says:

“It’s an absolute must-have for the MoVI XL. ”

The M-360 Kit comes with everything needed for installation including tools, hardware, an XT90 splitter (for using your existing MoVI XL batteries) and a handy 6ft micro-bnc extension cable for providing 3G-SDI directly at the MoVI XL tilt-cage.

Save precious time, money and weight.

What do you want taking weight on your XL?

Low-profile, lightweight design

The M-360 forms a seamless connection with the MoVI XL pan motor for OEM-like fitment, and features the same mounting pattern. It’s constructed of black-anodized aluminum for durability and weighs just 1.4lbs, reducing the operating weight of the MoVI XL by nearly 5lbs.

Why M-360?

You’ve been using the MoVI XL for years as-is, so why change now?

In my opinion, MoVI XL owners (including myself) have become accustomed to a broken workflow. On set, our tools are the last thing we want to be worried about, and the M-360 delivers that peace of mind in a several ways:

  1. No more battery change-outs! Finally use a single, big battery (see BRUTAL 60Ah battery) to provide lasting power for the entire shooting day. You don’t have to worry about having multiple sets of batteries on deck, fully-charged and ready to go.

  2. Hard-wired video! This one is a no-brainer, but in many applications wireless video is the last thing you want. Current wireless technology is great for viewing/monitoring, but even the best TX/RX combo is made obsolete by a simple hard-wired connection.

  3. No more cable snags! While the MoVI XL pan motor is hollow and allows for power and video cables to be passed through, it almost always results in the cables getting wound up as the gimbal operator pans. This is both annoying, and potentially dangerous in cases where the cables are so wound up the break and short circuit.

Use Cases

From camera cars to technocranes, the M-360 will streamline and simplify your MoVI XL workflow.

  • Keep your power source protected from harsh elements/temperature by locating them inside the vehicle! Even if you continue to use your same MoVI XL batteries, you can now perform the battery changeout from inside the vehicle inside of having to get out and stop the shoot.

You can also run your camera feed into vehicle directly inside of having to rely on wireless signal transmission.

  • Take advantage of the power + video slipring channels on MotoCrane ULTRA and HYPER! Simply plug your power source (MoVI XL batteries or Brutal 60Ah battery) into the “ACC PWR” port of your PSU using the MotoCrane ACC PWR to XT90 cables, and then to the appropriate BRUTAL XT90 Extension Cable. Now you have your MoVI XL power conveniently within your vehicle.

You can also now run 3G-SDI all the way from the camera to the vehicle without snagging cables during gimbal pan or arm swings!

  • Eliminate the hassle of bringing the camera in for battery changes by remote-locating your power for easy access. Even if you choose to continue using the MoVI XL batteries instead of our “All-day” 60Ah battery, you can easily perform battery change-outs at the base instead of having to bring the camera in for access.

Also eliminate the concern of wireless interference on sound stages or locations, and simply run hard-wired video feed directly to video village.

  • Despite having convenient access to the MoVI XL in this application, using the M-360 is helpful because you can secure our All-day 60Ah battery onto the Dolly/Rickshaw and never interrupt and stop the set for battery changes.

The camera can also feed 3G-SDI directly to video village without wireless signal dropout.
